About Us

The Ashley Scrivens Foundation is a grant making trust set up to support and promote the development of youth sport within Cirencester, Forest of Dean and the surrounding areas, with a forward giving philosophy to extend the impact of the grants that we make.

Established in 2014 in the memory of Ashley Scrivens, we strive to carry forward Ashley’s legacy of developing youth sport, and his immense generosity in terms of giving back to those that helped him or are less fortunate than himself.

Our Aim

Our ultimate aim is to make sport accessible to all under-18’s within Cirencester, Forest of Dean and the surrounding area, agnostic to ability, type of sport or demographic. We do this by making grants for specific projects and initiatives that are aimed at increasing the participation level in, and/or improve the quality of sport within our geographical reach.

Our Philosophy

TASF differs slightly from the usual trust, by the way that we ask the recipients of our grants to give something forward to their community in return. This can be anything that the recipient chooses, but has to fulfil our criteria of helping their community, and is proportional to the size of grant given. We believe that not only does this make the money we give work harder and draw communities together, but also carries forward Ashley’s legacy of forward giving

How it works

We run several fundraising events over the course of the year, as well as people fundraising for us, and then meet as a board of trustees every quarter to vote upon which projects we can support. We invite organisations, such as clubs, societies, schools, youth clubs etc to apply to us for a grant to either wholly or partly fund a project that fits with our criteria.

As a part of the application, we’ll ask the applicant to outline how they are planning to give forward, outside of their normal activities. If the applicant is unsure, we are happy to give ideas and/or align them with local charities or social enterprises that could use their help. Preference will be given, however, to organisations who have given thought as to how they’d like to give forward.

The type of projects that we support

We are looking to fund projects or initiatives that enhance the offering of youth sport within our region. By enhance, we mean that it is a new initiative that will increase the availability of one or more sports to any level of ability, or it’s enhancing an existing offering though the quality of coaching, facilities or expansion.
